10:00 - 18:00
From October 7 to November 19, 2021, the Embassy of Canada in France will be exhibiting a special project, #TurnOffThePlasticTap by Canadian artist, photographer and environmental activist Benjamin Von Wong, in our gallery at the Canadian Cultural Centre, marking the launch of a new campaign to raise awareness of the global plastic problem.
Very active on social media, Von Wong is known for his photographic projects taking aim at the environmental threats posed by fast fashion, plastics in our oceans and electronic waste.
Generating millions of views, his projects come together thanks to large-scale collections by an army of volunteers, resulting in spectacular installations designed to capture the imagination and provoke radical changes in our perspectives and our behaviour.
Von Wong’s new campaign, #TurnOffThePlasticTap, uses a familiar image, faucet, as a metaphor for the sea of plastic waste in which we are drowning.
The campaign sends a message to consumers, governments, private companies and all the organizations that play a role in the circuits of production and consumption of single-use plastics polluting our planet.
Come see the installation that was initiated and produced in Montreal – and launched in Paris.
