Centre culturel canadien
December 03rd, 2021
20:00 - 21:00
Gabriel Osson, a Franco-Ontarian poet, writer and painter of Haitian origin, will present his poetic performance D’ici et d’ailleurs at the Canadian Cultural Centre, in a show that brings together music, visual arts and literature.
Through the magic of words and images, Gabriel Osson expresses his attachment to Haiti, his birthland. He presents the country’s women, men, children and the colours. His Haiti is one of teeming life that surpasses natural or political disasters. Through the smells, the sounds, the beauty and the violence of his island, Gabriel Osson takes us on a journey punctuated by words and musicas he sings of his nostalgia for his roots and the affirmation of oneself.
On stage, he is accompanied on piano and guitar by Haitian composer and performer Dieufaite Charles aka Jahfaa,; on percussion by Claude Saturné on drums, a composer and performer of traditional Haitian music; and on saxophone by Frédéric Osson.
D’ici et d’ailleurs is a collection of poems published by Éditions Terre d’Accueil and an album.
