Guillaume Adjutor Provost in residence for research and creation macSUP Planet in Lyon

For its first edition and in partnership with the Canadian Cultural Centre, macSUP Planet has invited artist Guillaume Adjutor Provost, who becomes its first artist in residence from abroad. The project led by Guillaume Adjutor Provost unfolds around a cosmology of images – following the thinking of historian Aby Warburg (1866-1929) – through the collective modification of recycled clothing. 

The project will be presented at the Musée d’art contemporain de Lyon during experimental days on April 2 and 3, 2022. 

A joint project between the Musée d’art contemporain de Lyon, Universities Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and Jean Moulin Lyon 3, INSA Lyon, École normale supérieure de Lyon, EM Lyon Business School, École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon, macSUP is a research-creation programme in a university environment. Students and teacher-researchers participate in a creative process based on a proposal from the artist. Each person brings their own ideas and skills to the table, bringing together and comparing research and creative methods. The work carried out together gives everyone the experience of creation, through a protocol and methods that include chance, freedom and different fields of knowledge.

Guillaume Adjutor Provost
Born in Outaouais (Canada), Guillaume Adjutor Provost  is an interdisciplinary artist who experiments with forms of exhibition, collections, and curation. He holds a doctorate in art studies and practices from UQAM. His artistic practice is motivated by a desire to update what has long existed on the periphery of dominant historical discourses: class consciousness, counter-culture, social psychology and experiences of queerness.  His projects have been presented in France, in Austria, in Belgium, in Scotland, in Germany, in Lithuania and in Spain. Guillaume Adjutor Provost has received numerous awards including the Stephen and Claudine Bronfman Prize, as well as being nominated for the City of Montreal’s Pierre Ayot Award (2016/2019) and the Sobey Prize (2021). In 2022, he will participate in a residency at the NARS Foundation (Brooklyn, USA) and will participate in a retrospective exhibition at the Fonderie Darling (Montréal, Canada).

The Canadian Cultural Centre in Paris is a partner in this research-creation residency.
