Stories are Meaning-making Machines
Festival Hors Pistes
February 05th, 2015 20:00 - 23:59
Centre Pompidou (Cinema 2) – Paris
Maïder Fortuné, in collaboration with Canadian artist Annie MacDonell, presents Stories are Meaning-making Machines, a performance that echoes his first feature film inspired by a case that occurred at the beginning of the last century: a vagrant, who found himself totally amnesic, was given two identities.
The investigation that followed focused on the “memory of the amnesiac”, which she searched using various methods. Besides the traditional calls for testimony, a prodigious experimentation produced new police and psychiatric techniques that had not been used by the justice system until then. It is these methods and their narrative productivity that the two artists decided to explore.
As part of the festival Hors Pistes From January 24th to February 9th
