Mylia, a shy and fierce child, is about to leave her native countryside for high school. In search of landmarks in this seemingly hostile environment, she will learn more about herself when she meets Jimmy, a young Indigeneous outsider from the neighbouring reserve. Mylia will find her way as best as she can, flirting with the absurdity of teenage years, its discomforts and its small victories.
Une colonie has won numerous festival awards and prizes, including the Canadian Screen Award for best Canadian film and best female interpretation for Emilie Bierre in 2019.
