Alan Belcher
Le Consortium - Dijon
March 25th, 2017 - September 03rd, 2017
For his solo exhibition at Le Consortium, the Canadian artist Alan Belcher presents a series of “photo-objects” in ceramic entitled _____. jpg. This edition comprises 125 copies made in China, signed, numbered and dated. Belcher has captured the ephemeral nature of the universal JPEG and solidifies its icon into a standard image surrogate. Each of his installations reuses the original hangings of twenty or so works that made the history of contemporary art. Belcher is known for a practice combing photography and sculpture taking the form of “photo-objects”.
