Habiter la terre
5e Biennale internationale d’art contemporain de Melle
June 25th, 2011 - September 18th, 2011
The Canadian Cultural Centre is the partner of “Habiter la Terre”, the fifth edition of the Biennale de Melle. It features artists whose work deals with the world, history and the realties of our era. Twenty-four artists tackle the existential issues of a planet in crisis.
A guest of the Biennale, the Canadian artist Max Streicher will be presenting the monumental sculpture Dung Beetle, an allusion to Kafka’s The Metamorphosis, in Niort. Born in Olds, Alberta, in 1958, Max Streicher now lives and works in Toronto. Since 1991, he has been drawing and sculpting mainly inflatable shapes representing human beings and giant beetles in architectural settings.
