Canad’AIR – Season 2, Episode Bonus
Isabelle Hudon, the Official Residence of Canada in France
July 01st, 2021
Welcome to Canad’Air which has never been so well named. This time, we are flying to Canadian soil in the heart of Paris. We are on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, in the 8th arrondissement, a few steps away from the Canadian Embassy and the French government offices such as Elysée and Matignon. The Canadian Ambassador to France and Monaco Isabelle Hudon welcomes us into home and workplace, to offer us a very special flight to the Official Residence of Canada in France.
Seventy years ago Canada acquired this superb property, built in the 19th century on the site of the former stables of the Comte d’Artois, the brother of Louis XVI. It is where the Canadian Ambassador to France resides, where Canadian Prime Ministers work during official visits, and where tens of thousands of visitors – Ministers, business leaders, artists, Canadian and French citizens – have met, negotiated and celebrated the friendship between Canada and France… The Official Residence is not just a home, but also and above all a diplomatic tool….
