Elisapie
Festival Aurores Montréal
Centre culturel canadien
December 06th, 2018 - December 07th, 2018
20:00 - 21:30
As part of the 6th edition of the Festival Aurores Montréal, the Canadian Cultural Centre presents the artist Elisapie for two concerts on December 6 and 7.
Ambassador of Inuit culture, Elisapie represents the beauty of the Far North, a little wild, a little rough. Her new album, The Ballad of the Runaway Girl is the musical tale of an expatriate Inuit.
The journey begins with the first days of her life when her biological mother gives her away for adoption on the runway of the airport of Salluit, the village she grew up in, dreaming of the south. Then, the flight towards Montreal. There, she builds a family and forgets the extreme conditions of the Far North.
Today, looking at her people with tenderness, she renews ties with her origins and plays an ecstatic brand of folk. She gives herself fully, telling her story and performing brilliant renditions of Indigenous music culture.
A return to her roots, sometimes soft, sometimes raw with her characteristic fashion of blending Inuktitut, English and French. This is the project that will reveal the person behind the music of her new album.
