Since the release of her first solo album, Apprentie guerrière (2012), named Alternative Album of the year at the Felix Awards, Fanny Bloom has embodied a Canadian trend of pop music attuned to its times–both melancholy and spirited. With Pan (2014), and its homonymic album of piano covers (2016), the unruly artist persists in her elegant depiction of haunting memories and beautiful irrepressible dreams.
Here she comes now with Liqueur, a fresh nectar with sweet ingredients concocted together with TÖKI (Thomas Herbert and Julien Harbec, her former bandfellows of La Patère Rose). A candid, colourful and refreshing opus, this early spring record pours out catchy melodies and light-hearted lyrics wrapped in the misty voice of the ever so radiant Fanny. Yet again, the gentle fighter with a fragile heart displays her talent that hugs the heart and gets hips to swing.
