The Festival du film canadien de Dieppe is celebrating its 10th anniversary! From March 23 to 26, discover films from across Canada. This is a great opportunity to highlight through culture the strong ties and deep relationship between the city of Dieppe and Canada. The Canadian Cultural Centre has been a partner of this festival since its creation.
Unique in Europe, this festival represents the diversity of English and French Canadian cinema beyond our borders. Each year, it presents a wide range of feature films never before seen in France, reflecting the vitality of current Canadian film production.
On the programme:
Opening film, Thursday 23 March at 7pm
ROSIE, Gail Maurice (Ontario, Quebec) / 93 min / English, French, Cree
ROSIE tells the story of a young Indigenous orphan who is forced to live with her Aunt Fred. She finds herself on the fringes of 1980s Montreal, under the care of Fred, who has just lost her job, and is about to be deported.
Closing film, Sunday 26 March at 7pm
ARSENAULT ET FILS, Rafael Ouellet (Quebec) / Thriller / 105 min / French
The Arsenault family, a tight-knit family that profits from illegal hunting, has ruled for generations in a small village in the Lower St. Lawrence. The return of Anthony, the impetuous youngest member of the family, and the arrival of Émilie, a radio host who exerts an influence on Anthony and his older brother Adam, will put the harmony of the clan to the test.
A short film programme will be screened before each feature film. 14 short films will be presented, 8 of which were directed by women.
