Born in Port Credit – a western suburb of Toronto – and now based in Vancouver, Jill Barber is English-speaking, but she presents herself as a Francophone at heart. Mixing songs in French and English, her repertoire ranges from folk to jazz to pop. Inspired by French music and the yéyé of the 1960s, Jill Barber takes us on a journey of danceable, delicate and fresh tunes.
A three-time Juno Award nominee, recipient of the Sirius XM Jazz Artist of the Year Award and the East Coast Music Award for Album of the Year, her breakthrough jazz album Chances was certified Gold for 40,000 copies sold in Canada. Her francophone album Chansons has been streamed over 100 Million times. Many of her timeless songs have been featured in film and TV, scoring shows such as Orange Is The New Black, The L Word, and Heartland.
