Born in Toronto and raised in Ottawa, Canadian jazz singer Kellylee Evans is considered one of the finest voices of her generation. After a critically acclaimed 2010 tribute album to Nina Simone (winner of Canada’s 2011 Juno Award), she presents, accompanied by a Quintet, her new opus I Remember when released in France in February 2013.
This singular album is an acoustic and original tribute to historic hip hop and revisits standards by Eminem, John Legend and Kanye West, inspired by the colourful “First Take”, the first album of soul jazz diva Roberta Flack. A new repertoire open to multiple influences for this decidedly surprising and sparkling artist, undoubtedly one of the vocal revelations of 2013.
