Winners of the Tremplin de la Scène des Luthiers competition at the Django Reinhardt Festival in Samois-Sur-Seine, La Verdine take their place on the international gypsy jazz scene in 2019 when they appear at this festival. Today, their new repertoire of compositions, somewhere between folk music and acoustic jazz, will pay tribute to the influence of the great Django Reinhardt and his innovative pieces.
But above all, La Verdine is a skilful blend of French and English; the group’s roots lie between Montreal and Toulouse, the hometowns of the band’s two composers: Frank Soucy on guitar and Raphaël-Tristan Jouaville on violin. Accordionist Noé Clerc and double bassist Fabricio Nicolas-Garcia, regulars on the biggest jazz stages, bring an impressionist universe to this explosive group.
A captivating show and poetic music, La Verdine is in the vanguard of today’s gypsy jazz.
