A Trip to the Moon
Screening of the selection of the artist’s films.
Centre culturel canadien

Marcel Dzama, an internationally renowned Canadian artist, has been developing an abundant and dreamlike body of work since the late 1990’s, in which drawing and film are central.
Great admirer and connoisseur of the early age of cinema, Marcel Dzama is also, more broadly, fascinated by a wide range of worlds: the Surrealist and Dadaist movements, the beginnings of modernism, pop culture, illustration, underground music etc. These influences fuel a fantastical universe immediately recognizable, sometimes marvellous, sometimes cruel, sometimes poetic or political.
Echoing Marcel Dzama’s current exhibition at La Criée centre d’art contemporain de Rennes, this event gives us the opportunity to discover a selection of seven films by the artist, from his early work to the present, that have rarely or never been shown in France. Sophie Kaplan, director of La Criée centre d’art contemporain de Rennes and curator of the exhibition, will introduce the screening.
