The Quebec musicians Misc (formerly known as the Trio Jérôme Beaulieu and winners of the Révélation Jazz Radio Canada prize in 2013–14) are part of the jazz tradition in terms of their vocabulary and the place occupied by improvisation in their music. This does not stop them from drawing on pop and rock while reinterpreting the work of the artists they like, such as Blonde Redhead, James Blake and Daniel Bélanger. The pop and rock influences that mark a new generation of jazz musicians are felt in the solid, catchy melodies and grooves, which anchor jazz in the present.
Free admission, subject to availability; reservations required.
