The Canadian Cultural Centre invites you to two exceptional musical evenings to celebrate the power and diversity of Indigenous languages, on January 18 and 19!

Almost a year after the launch of UNESCO’s International Decade of Indigenous Languages, join us to discover the texts of poet and slammer Natasha Kanapé and the punk and poetic musical energy of Kanen, on January 18 at 8pm. Book your seats now!

The Innu poet-slammer, author and actor from Pessamit will be presenting her show Nui Pimuten – Je veux marcher, with Manuel Gasse on piano and guitar. Get ready for an evening of poetry, songs and musicf, full of exchanges and encounters between peoples and cultures. A show for our ancestors and for future generations!

Révélation Radio-Canada 2022-2023, Kanen is a singer-songwriter from the Innu community of Uashat mak Mani-Utenam. She will be presenting her album “Mitshuap”, released in April 2023, at the Canadian Cultural Centre. Her songs blend French and Innu-aimun, a language she is learning to master in a process of reclaiming her identity. Her music – militant, punk and poetic – will touch your heart!

An evening in partnership with the Canadian Commission for UNESCO (CCUNESCO) and Musicaction.
