« Perceptions du temps » , Musée Louvre-Lens
December 04th, 2012 - October 21st, 2013
One of the first exhibitions at the new Musée du Louvre-Lens is Perceptions du temps. It is curated by Pierre-Yves Le Pogam, a curator at the Musée du Louvre.
This group exhibition explores time as it is perceived by humans, conscious of their own finiteness, as well as the eternal time of the gods, cyclical phenomena studied by the oldest civilizations and linear time often marked by religion or politics.
The selected works enter into a dialogue and echo the Galerie du Temps presented in the Grande Galerie of the museum. As part of this exhibition, the Canadian artist Jana Sterbak presents the video works Sakura and February from the Seasons series, inspired by The Seasons, a series of six pictures by the Flemish painter Pieter Brueghel.
