The program includes three round-table discussions :
What Hurts, What Heals
Duration: 20 min
Featuring:
French author Marion Richez, Petit pas, published in January 2026 by La Peuplade. Petit pas is a novel that penetrates the body and acts as a balm. A text with a vision of solidarity, a political meditation on the scale of a young family.
Quebec author Julie Benoît for Ce qui se passe en moi aura lieu de toute façon, published by Éditions du Quartz. This debut novel sweeps us away like a merry-go-round spinning out of control to the rhythm of insidious acts of violence—those that wreak havoc on our flesh and the deepest recesses of our lives.
- Navigating Grief, Celebrating Friendship and Life
Duration: 30 min
Featuring:
Quebec art historian and essayist Benoît Jodoin for Archives de nos amitiés imparfaites, published by Éditions Triptyque. In this essay, Benoît Jodoin draws from his own personal archives and addresses a teenage friend to examine friendship between gay men through the lens of queer theory. The author engages in his reflection as one engages in friendship: with doubt and fragility.
Quebec professor, poet, translator, and performing artist Flavia Garcia for Hermanas, published by Triptyque. By the side of a sister battling cancer, then amidst the breathtaking landscapes of the North American West Coast, Flavia Garcia delves into the realm of care, with luminous poetry composed of sober verses and rich prose.
Quebec author, curator, researcher, and literary director Nicholas Dawson for Vida, journal de la peur, published by Éditions du remue-ménage. The author keeps a journal that accompanies her through the last two years of her sister Caroline’s life—a writer brutally taken by cancer. At the heart of an experience of illness and death, Vida reaffirms the freedom of a writer who left too soon, and the strength of the bond that unites her with her brother.
- Telling the story through fiction
Duration: 20 min
Featuring
Quebec academic and author Éric Dupont for La couleur du temps ou l’incroyable histoire de Mary Gallagher, to be published by Éditions 10/18 in March 2026. This novel is a family saga inspired by the real-life murder of Mary Gallagher, weaving together several stories in 19th-century Montreal and exploring the urban and rural landscapes of the era, from the melon fields of Mount Royal to the slums of Griffintown,
Quebec comic book author Jean-Paul Eid for La crue, published by La Pastèque. The news has just broken: Germain Cliche’s latest feature film is a finalist for the Oscar for Best International Feature Film. A major figure in modern Quebec, his name ranks among those shaping the history of a nation. But now his name also appears on another list… The mastery of graphic storytelling, the sense of rhythm, and the staging give this comic book a scope that is both intimate and universal.
A book-signing session will be organized following the discussions in collaboration with the Librairie du Québec à Paris.
The flash literary discussions are organized by Québec Édition and the Canadian Cultural Centre with the support of SODEC and the government of Canada
