Robin Collyer – Constructions
February 05th, 2012 - April 29th, 2012
Robin Collyer, who was educated in a context of North American minimalist and conceptual art, has been producing photographs and sculptures since the 1970s. He often uses industrial materials, as well as objects and images from advertising and the media. The exhibition brings together works linked to architecture and language, such as the 1990s productions Mosque, a yellow plastic cylinder topped with a dome reminiscent of an oil container, and Retouched Photographs, urban views whose inscriptions have all been digitally erased. Through this double theme, the relationship between photography and sculpture is explored: how an apparently abstract structure refers to images; how realistic images are produced by structures.
