“There’s a Star” by Julien Cadieux
From the Dieppe Canadian Film Festival
Centre culturel canadien
March 26th, 2024
20:00 - 21:30
On March 26, the Canadian Cultural Centre invites you to a special evening dedicated to the Dieppe Canadian Film Festival!
This festival is the only one of its kind in Europe to represent the diversity of English, Francophone and Indigenous Canadian cinema outside its borders. For the past two years, the Festival has given carte blanche to New Brunswick’s Festival international du film francophone en Acadie (FICFA). To celebrate this successful collaboration, join us for the screening of the music documentary “There’s a Star” by Acadian director Julien Cadieux! The documentary will be preceded by the screening of the short film “Daniel le Tisserand“, by the same director. In the presence of Mélanie Clériot, Chief Executive Officer of the FICFA.
There’s a Star is a poetic and poignant journey through queer Acadia. Julien Cadieux paints an intimate, rhythmic and joyful portrait of young Francophone Acadians who are proud of their gender and cultural identities and of their own language, Chiac. As they emancipate themselves through music and self-assertion, they realise that, despite the obstacles, there is a star for every one of us…
