Teri Wehn Damisch
A transatlantic dialogue between the arts
Centre Pompidou Paris
April 13th, 2022 - April 16th, 2022
For the first time in France, the work of director Teri Wehn Damisch is honoured by a great retrospective! From April 13 to 16, between the Colbert Gallery of the INHA and the Centre Pompidou, three days of screenings, debates and conversations will be held in her presence.
From New York, Teri Wehn Damisch joined the Research Department of ORTF in the 1970s. Her filmed portraits, filled with humanity, include major personalities from the art world, women artists and intellectuals: André Kertész, Sonia Delaunay, Gisèle Freund, Françoise Héritier, Phillys Lambert, Michael Snow, Robert Morris, Julia Kristeva, Luciano Fabro, Alexandre Trauner…
As part of this retrospective, the Canadian Cultural Centre is proud to highlight the screening of two films by the director, dedicated to contemporary artist Michael Snow and architect Phillys Lambert: two major figures on the Canadian art scene.
- April 13 at 7pm – Screening of the film “On Snow’s Wavelength – Zoom Out” by director Teri Wehn Damisch, during the opening night of the retrospective at the Centre Pompidou.
Michael Snow, a unique and unclassifiable Canadian artist, has been experimenting in almost all fields of artistic creation since the 1960s: photography, cinema, music, sculpture, painting, holography… Far from documenting Michael Snow’s artwork in a literal way, Teri Wehn Damisch offers a new point of view on the work of Canadian artist, by interweaving images and borrowing some of Snow’s experimental processes.
- April 15 at 9am – Screening of the film “Citizen Lambert: Joan of ARChitecture” by director Teri Wehn Damisch in the J. Lichtenstein Auditorium of the Colbert Gallery.
“Citizen Lambert: Joan of ARChitecture” offers a glimpse into the world of Phyllis Lambert, renowned Canadian architect, activist and founder of the Canadian Centre for Architecture in 1979. The exceptional career of this visionary architect is evoked through memories and archives that paint the portrait of a combative woman with a free spirit.
