Fondation Maeght, St-Paul de Vence
Fondation Maeght
July 01st, 2023 - November 12th, 2023
The Fondation Marguerite et Aimé Maeght in Saint-Paul de Vence presents a monographic exhibition dedicated to Canadian artist Jean Paul Riopelle as part of “Riopelle 100”, to mark the centenary of the artist’s birth. From July 1st to November 12th, the exhibition will show Riopelle’s work as it has never been seen before thanks to numerous exclusive loans and the curatorship of his daughter, Yseult Riopelle.
“Jean Paul Riopelle – Essence of studios” will showcase more than 180 works, including both seminal and previously unseen works, and offer a journey through the various techniques used by the artist. It is a journey to the heart of the works produced in the various studios that Riopelle occupied on both sides of the Atlantic over the course of his long and prolific career.
This exhibition at the Fondation includes a special summer programme: concerts, film screenings on Jean Paul Riopelle, and the great return of dance to the Fondation with Noé Soulier’s “Passages” in sets that Riopelle had imagined for Merce Cunningham in 1967.
