CANCELED
As part of Plus vite, plus haut, plus fort : filmer le sport (Faster, higher, stronger: filming sports) presented at the Cinémathèque du documentaire du Centre Pompidou from September 12 to December 20, the Canadian Cultural Centre welcomes you to a screening of the documentaries Natation and Parfaites/Perfect produced by the National Film Board of Canada (NFB). The films shed light on the Canadian quest for excellence in sports in two different time periods.
The short film Natation follows two young Canadian athletes preparing for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and their absolute dedication to spend every minute of their spare time training in the pool.
The feature film Parfaites/Perfect follows the Canadian national synchronized swimming team as they bid to qualify for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. Behind the glitter is a sport that cultivates a rapport to the female body and a cult of beauty and performance beyond common understanding.
