Warsaw, a city divided
International Holocaust Remembrance Day
Centre culturel canadien
January 27th, 2020
20:00 - 22:30
In 1941, shortly after the Nazis created the Warsaw ghetto, a Polish amateur filmmaker clandestinely made film about life on both sides of the ghetto walls.
This unpublished archive has become the main theme of the documentary Warsaw: a divided city (Warszawa – miasto podzielone) by Canadian-Polish filmmaker Eric Bednarski.
The documentary, by combining the testimonies of survivors of the ghetto with those of historians and architects, looks at the traces of the past and the importance of the duty of remembrance in the rebuilt city of Warsaw.
The screening will be followed by a debate in the presence of the director.
