The Canadian company Disques Benedictus proposes the project Fables2016 focused on music rarely performed for baritone and piano or organ. A work by the Bulgarian-Canadian composer will be Alexandra Fol will be centre-stage.
Fable2016 sets to music four fables for children, recently discovered in the archives, written by the great Bulgarian theatrical director and writer, her grandfather Nikolai Fol.
The Canadian baritone Jean-Pierre Couturier will be singing.
Alexandra Fol was a finalist for the Gaudeamus International Composers Award 2006, winner of the Leonard Bernstein composition prize 2007 at the Tanglewood Music Centre and a winner of the Molinari International Composition Competition for String Quartet prize in 2015–16.
The event will feature a lecture, a concert and a dialogue between the artists and the public.
