Images to connect!
From May 20th to June 20th 2020, participate in our call for public images and contribute to our 50th anniversary special exhibition.
Has physical distancing and isolation changed the way you view yourself, the world around you, your community and your country?
The Canadian Cultural Centre in Paris is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. For half a century, we have been inviting our French friends to Canada through a unique cultural programme focused on the diversity and vitality of our artistic voices.
For our anniversary, you’re invited to contribute to our fall exhibition!
Starting in September and for one month, the Canadian Cultural Centre’s art gallery and website will host a photography exhibition titled Image… sent / Image… envoyée. You could have the chance to be part of this exhibition alongside renowned Canadian artists who are part of the Centre’s history. At a time where the virtual world is transforming our relationship to reality, this title evokes our new ways of communicating through messages and images sent through our phones and computers.
Grab your cell phone and send us a picture through our social networks or by e-mail, like a message across the Atlantic Ocean.
If physical distanciation is, in this period, necessary, so is social closeness. In our world that has changed so profoundly and so fast, we want to show, through your lens, the new ways we look at it. Whether you are French or Canadian, we want you to share with us your personal vision of tomorrow’s world, your community, your country.
Are you in Canada? Send us one image, just one, to let our friends in France discover your universe in Canada.
Are you in France? Offer Canadians a journey into your universe in France. Send us one image, just one, that captures what you want to show Canadians about what surrounds you.
Images should be sent:
- by e-mail to the following address: email@example.com, with the subject: Call for images “Image… sent, Image… envoyée”.
- or through the Canadian Cultural Centre’s social media channels
Confirmation of receipt will be sent by e-mail to participants who have submitted their image by email.
The call for public images Image… sent, Image… envoyée is open to any resident of France or Canada. French or Canadian citizens living abroad can also participate, provided they send images related to their country of origin.
This call for images is not specifically addressed to professional artists. It is for canadian and french citizen and residents in general. The professional part of the exhibition is on invitation only.
Candidates must send their image exclusively by digital means. Each person may send only one image. Only the person’s first name or social media handle will be indicated (no title, no text) as well as the origin of the image (Canada or France).
The accepted format for photographs is vertical or horizontal. The accepted file type is: .jpeg, minimum 5 megapixels (5MP) and maximum 10MB.
The images will be selected by our curator and you will be notified of your selection for the virtual exhibition by June 30th. The images selected for the physical exhibition will be printed on a common graphic medium to give visual unity to the project.
