In this first episode of season 2, we’d like to introduce you to Nivatha Balendra.

Nivatha was born in Montreal where her parents settled 30 years ago, fleeing the civil war in Sri Lanka.  As a child, she filled her days taking dance classes and competing in science fairs. Today, she teaches Bharata Natyam, one of the oldest and most complex forms of traditional Indian dance and is CEO of her own company, Dispersa!

At the age of 25, this young English-speaking scientist is the founder and director of an innovative green-tech start-up. Passionate about science and driven by her desire to serve, she got actively involved in the fight against oil-spills early on. Her weapons: science, innovation and a healthy dose of self-confidence!

A native English-speaker, she agreed to embark on Canad’air in French, just to push her out of her comfort zone!

Fasten your seat belt! Time for take off!

Directed and narrated by Marie Cousin, Canadian Embassy and Canadian Cultural Centre in France.
Production: Studio La Fugitive
