Elizabeth Shepherd, 2013

This soft, luminous voice floating in the air in a soul-jazz vein with pop melodic accents has established singer and pianist Elizabeth Shepherd as one of the most beautiful voices in Canadian jazz. Shepherd has been nominated for numerous awards and has played in the most prestigious jazz clubs and festivals around the world, including the not-to-be-missed Festival International de Jazz de Montréal. Shepherd returns to France after a highly acclaimed debut concert at the Petit Montparnasse last May.

In an acoustic session, she presents excerpts from Rewind, her latest album composed of well-chosen covers that breaks with her usual approach as a songwriter and composer, but gives her the opportunity to take on jazz and chanson standards in her own way – including Brassens’ “Les amoureux des bancs publics” – in a vaguely retro atmosphere.
