Since 1978, the Festival International de Films Documentaires Cinéma du Réel has been an important international event where the public and professionals discovers films by established directors and those by new talents, the history of documentary cinema and contemporary documentaries. This year, several Canadian films and Canadian co-productions have been selected in the different sections of the competition:
- International competition : “Bestiaire”, directed by Denis Côté (Canada)
- International competition first films : “The Vanishing Spring Light”, directed by Xun Yu (China / Canada) and “East Hastings Pharmacy”, directed by Antoine Bourges (Canada)
- International competition short films : “The Fuse: Or How I Burnt Simon Bolivar”, directed by Igor Drljaca (Bosnia Herzegovina / Canada)
