From 9 to 21 October 2012, the Festival International Toulouse les Orgues will resurrect the spirit of Xavier Darasse, who passed away twenty years ago. A virtuoso musician, daring composer and great teacher, he shook up the traditional codes of the world of the organ.
The seventeenth edition of the festival features eclectic and challenging programming inspired by his curiosity and generosity. Quebec organist Réjean Poirier will be one of the many guests of honour at the conference dedicated to Xavier Darasse.
He will also perform in concert with the vocal ensemble Voces 8 on Saturday, October 20 at 8:30 p.m. as part of the festival programming. Voces 8 specializes in a cappella singing; their repertoire ranges from ancient polyphonies to jazz, via Bach and film music.
