A performative talk and a drawn concert where two worlds meet and reinvent themselves.
Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas is the creator of the Haïda manga, a hybrid visual form blending Northern Pacific Indigenous art with Japanese. A visual artist and storyteller, he embodies centuries of a living culture from which he has become one of the most inventive ambassadors.
During the perfomance, he draws live, talks about his artwork and sings, accompanied by Ernst Reijseger, a Dutch cellist, a major unclassifiable figure on the European jazz scene, and a composer for the film director Werner Herzog.
