La Nuit européenne des musées

May 21st, 2016

Jocelyne Alloucherie, Dédale, 2014, avec l’aimable autorisation de la Galerie Françoise Paviot, Paris.

The night, all in shadows and lights, invites the visitor into Michèle Lemieux’s cinematic workshop and into the glimmering alleyways filmed, at dusk, by Jocelyne Alloucherie with Dédale.

Michèle Lemieux invents narratives in black and white using just a surface bristling with pins that produces shadows. In parallel to the exhibition The Whole and Its Part, the Canadian Cultural Centre presents the screening of Michèle Lemieux’s short film, Stormy Night.

In 2006, Jocelyne Alloucherie presented, at the Canadian Cultural Centre, Inside-Out, an exhibition of photographs and sculptures in which sources of light entered into dialogue with projected shadows des sources. A bewitching video triptych, Dédale takes us into another form of meditative and contemplative work, at a remove from the world and the times.

An event presented in partnership with the Galerie Françoise Paviot, Paris, and the National Film Board of Canada.
