La semaine acadienne
August 08th, 2014
Saint Aubin sur Mer
Through the theme of Le grand débarquement, the festival La semaine acadienne pays homage to all the soldiers who landed on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944.
Dedicated to the landings of Canadian troops on French territory, the festival pays special tribute to the Acadian soldiers who largely comprised the North Shore Regiment from New Brunswick. Each performance, concert and event will, at one point or another, refer to the particular moment experienced by thousands of young soldiers, including Acadians, who landed on beaches they did not know even existed.
On this commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Normandy landings, this celebration has an even more special place in the heart of Canadians.
