Entitled La vie moderne, the 13th Biennale de Lyon brings together artists from 28 countries, including Canadian artist Jon Rafman, who explore the paradoxical nature of contemporary culture in different regions of the world. Rafman’s work places the accent on how digital technologies and the new media distance people. With his installations, photographs and videos, the artist takes a melancholy yet ironic look at social interactions, virtual communities and the unexpected realties they create.
