Canadian dance company Ballet BC is coming to France from Vancouver! The troupe will launch their European tour at the Maison de la danse de Lyon, unveiling the richness of its talent in a performance created by three great choreographic figures with inimitable signatures: Crystal Pite, Sharon Eyal and Medhi Walerski, also the company’s artistic director.
Inspired by Camille Saint-Saëns’ Quintet for piano and strings in A minor, Medhi Walerski has created a fluid and organic work for GARDEN that creates a fascinating dialogue between the refined music and the dancers’ sensual bodies.
In The Statement, the theatrical force and neo-classical language of Canadian Crystal Pite collide. A delicious dialogue between words and movements, the piece is an inextricable imbroglio where four dancers, around a large table, reveal relationships of force and power games.
To close the evening, Bedroom Folk, by Israeli Sharon Eyal, is a spectacular piece with twelve dancers carried in a hypnotic dance by the impulses of Ori Lichtik’s repetitive electronic music.
A prestigious programme in which the dancers brilliantly take hold of rich and complex gestures, set to evocative and powerful music!
