Canada on its way to Angoulême
Evening to discover two duos of Canadian comics creators
Centre culturel canadien
March 14th, 2022
20:00 - 21:30
How do a scriptwriter and comic artist duo approach a historical event through comics? While Francis Desharnais and Alexandre Fontaine Rousseau chose satire and humour to talk about the conquest of the cosmos, Anne-Marie Saint-Cerny and Christian Quesnel chose journalistic research to tackle the tragic Mégantic train accident. What motivated their choice? And how did they work as a duo to build a coherent storyline?
On March 14 at 8pm, join us to meet these two prominent Canadian cartoonist and scriptwriter duos, who are in France for the Angoulême International Comics Festival!
With:
- Alexandre Fontaine-Rousseau and Francis Desharnais for La conquête du cosmos published by Éditions Pow Pow.
- Anne-Marie St-Cerny and Christian Quesnel for Mégantic, un train dans la nuit, published by Éditions Écosociété and nominated in the Eco-Fauve category at the Angoulême International Comics Festival.
The conversation will be followed by a book signing. The books will be available for sale through Librairie du Québec.
