The Documentation Centre of the Canadian Cultural Centre has kept the archives of its activities since 1970, the year the centre opened in Paris. The exhibition Programmes, Catalogues: 40 Years of the CCC’s Cultural Life presents in a playful form all of the cultural programmes and exhibition catalogues published by the centre over the last 40 years.
In addition to displaying about 400 documents, which illustrate the development of the centre and of the forms of communication that it has adopted over the years, this exhibition has been the occasion to carry out a large-scale archival survey, compiling a register of events whose result will be accessible to the public on our website. In order to preserve the memory of the Canadian culture presented over the last 40 years, our Documentation Centre has designed an Index of Programmes, CCC (1970-2010). This document sheds new light on the extent of the work has gone into promoting Canadian culture in France.
In order to do so, we have set up a database containing the names of all those who have participated in the events held at the Canadian Cultural Centre from 1970 to the present, using the some 314 programmes produced over the years. For each artist, there are details of the programmes in which his or her name is mentioned, the date of these programmes, the pages of the programmes concerning him or her, the type of event in which he or she participated as well as a brief description of the event in question. In the electronic version of the database, the pages of the programmes – completely digitized – on which the artists are mentioned can also be consulted.
