Affiche Reel Injun

Opening night of the Festival “Ciné Alter’Natif 2012” is dedicated to the documentary Reel Injun by director Neil Diamond and the launch of its DVD release.

The feature-length “road movie” takes us across the United States and to the Canadian Far North. It explores the portrayal of Native Americans from the silent film era to the present day. The documentary features clips from classic and more recent films, as well as frank interviews with well-known directors, actors, writers and activists, Native American or not. A politically committed journalist, Diamond also cofounded “The Nation”, the first newsmagazine for the Cree of northern Quebec and Ontario.

In partnership with the association De la Plume à l’Ecran and the Festival Ciné Alter’Natif 2012.
