Le Centquatre
October 05th, 2024
16:30 - 17:00
Join us and meet the multidisciplinary Anishinaabe artist Caroline Monnet regarding her exhibition Ikwewak presented at the Village de la Francophonie at the CentQuatre in Paris and its programming in the group exhibition Ce qui nous rassemble. Langues, langages, imaginaires presented at the Gaîté Lyrique in Paris.
Caroline Monnet is known for her work with industrial materials, combining the vocabulary of popular and traditional visual cultures with contemporary codes to create unique hybrid forms.
This meeting is hosted by Sophie Gergaud, ethno-filmmaker, translator, programmer and president of the association De la Plume à l’Écran, which has been organizing the Ciné Alter’Natif festival since 2009. Sophie Gergaud devotes most of her research to Indigenous cinemas and the role of community media in defending and affirming the right to self-determination and cultural sovereignty of Indigenous peoples.
