Le Consortium has invited Rodney Graham to exhibit his work in Burgundy wine country on the famous lands of the Domaine de la Romanée Conti. In the former vat room of the Prince de Conti – an eighteenth-century building – the Canadian artist exhibits a series of new paintings. One of the famous group of Vancouver conceptual artists in the 1970s, Graham examines the complex relationship between the history of art, modernity and postmodernism. His work is full of references to psychanalysis, philosophy, literature (Edgar Allan Poe), music (Black Sabbath and Wagner), cinema (Alfred Hitchcock) and popular culture.
