On July 9th at 7pm, join us for Willows’ live concert on Facebook.
Hailing from Manitoba and living in Montreal, Métis author, composer and performer Geneviève Toupin aka Willows returns this year with a new EP entirely in English.
After two albums released in 2009 and 2012, in French and then in English, Geneviève Toupin reconnects with her Western Métis roots. In 2014, she released an album under the name Willows.
Composing in both French and English, her latest tracks are reminiscent of the great outdoors of her native Manitoba with airy melodies and a voice that gently moves you.
In an interview given to Ici première on May 24, 2020, the artist talks about her first single Two Wolves, in which she revives an old legend; the two wolves fighting each other as a metaphor for our inner battles. “I began to think that maybe these two wolves weren’t fighting each other, but more of a dance, a question of balance. Maybe we need both, a little bit of light and shadow.”
