Gisele Amantea
In Your Dreams

The presentation of “In Your Dreams” (collection of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts) brings together several symbolic registers highlighting different aspects of reality and the evolution of key phenomena that have marked the end of the 20th century and prepared the next. Born in Calgary and presently living in Montreal, Gisele Amantea takes a sentimental, romantic and universal approach to presenting a tableau of the history of women as seen in the cinema and cartoons of the 40s and 50s. These last, fairy-like images belong to an epoch which later witnessed the role and place of women assert itself and flourish, marking contemporary society in a fundamental way.
