Gilles Carle died on 28 November 2009 of Parkinson disease. A great loss for Canadian (Quebec) cinema. Carle directed more than 15 feature fiction films among them La vraie nature de Bernadette, La mort d’un bûcheron, Fantastica, Les Plouffe and as many documentaries such as Jouer sa vie, O Picasso and ONF 50 ans for which he received the Pale d’or for shorts films at the Cannes Film Festival 1989. He created unforgettable characters.
From 17 march to 22 March, the Canadian Cultural center in collaboration with the National Film Board of Canada presents a tribute of Carle’s short NFB films.
