Glenn Gould ou le Piano de l’esprit - Part II

PART II :

Meet Jean-Yves Clément on June 6th at the Canadian Cultural Centre

On the occasion of the celebrations of the 85th anniversary of the birth of Glenn Gould, the Canadian Cultural Centre welcomes Jean-Yves Clément, author of Glenn Gould ou le Piano de l’esprit (Editions Actes Sud, collection Classica, 2016).

How and why Glenn Gould became a world icon, far beyond the usual recognition given to the great figures of classical music ?

For this second evening, Jean-Yves Clément and the famous cellist Henri Demarquette will discuss about this legendary performer; who was also a composer, writer, a good communicator and the first musician to give recording a philosophical dimension.

Given the planetary appreciation of his performance of the Goldberg Variations, nearly everyone knows Glenn Gould. Over fifty years after leaving the concert stage and over thirty years after his death, Gould, who barely experienced media hysteria, is the best-known classical artist, except Karajan or Callas perhaps.

This event is organised in partnership with Editions Actes Sud and The Glenn Gould Foundation.

Free admission, subject to availability. Reservations required, see form below.
