The Canadian Cultural Centre is pleased to present Sparkle Hayter who will read extracts from Last Girl Standing (to be published) as well as extracts from Bandit Queen Boogie.
Sparkle Hayter was born and lived in British Columbia until 1980 when she moved to New York City. She has worked as an TV assignment editor, news writer, news producer, field producer, stand up comic, freelance reporter (in Washington DC) and, of course, a fiction writer. She has travelled extensively, spending time in Atlanta, Washington, Toronto, Pakistan, India, Europe and Tokyo. Her first novel, What’s a Girl Gotta Do? won the 1995 Arthur Ellis Award for Best First Novel. Sparkle wrote the first draft of this novel while traveling around India on trains.
