In conjunction with Semaine des cultures étrangères organized by FICEP, Espace culturel inuit and the Canadian Culture Centre will be presenting:
– 2 pm to 3 pm: Introductory workshop on Inuit writing
Using a study guide, facilitators from the Inuksuk Association will introduce the public to the syllabic writing system of Inuit from the Canadian Arctic. For audiences eight years of age and over.
– 4 pm to 5 pm: Workshop on Inuit tales and games
Attendees will be able to immerse themselves in the Inuit universe with the presentation of a number of everyday objects, the discovery of founding tales and myths, and a number of collective games.
Children five years of age and over.
– 7pm to 9pm: Evening poetry and video presentation
“Nunavut, de terres et de mers”
In the summer of 1999, Canadian poet and geographer Jean Morisset, and Aïda Maigre Touchet, a French video artist living in Quebec, went to the Arctic to gather traces of the first summer in Nunavut.
Part One: Reading of excerpts from the poetry collection Chants polaires by Jean Morisset.
Part Two: Screening of the film Kiyoukta (40 min) with Aïda Maigre-Touchet followed by an exchange of ideas between the public and the two guests.
