Daense
Ensemble Écoute & Petrikor Danse
Centre culturel canadien
June 25th, 2026
20:00 - 21:30
For this final event of the cultural season, the Canadian Cultural Centre invites you to enjoy a walk-through musical and dance experience in conjunction with Robert Burley’s exhibition Great Lakes – The Shared Horizon of Inland Seas.
Daense, created in collaboration between Ensemble Écoute and the Canadian company Petrikor Danse, invites the public to wander through the various spaces of the Canadian Cultural Centre. The French-Canadian musical program will include works by Gérard Grisey, Philippe Leroux, Alexina Louie, Claude Vivier, and a world premiere by Quebec composer Laurence Jobidon.
Daense weaves a dialogue between three moving bodies and six instruments, making density—of materials, sounds, bodies, and human connections—the central theme of its exploration.
Under the artistic direction of choregrapher Bettina Szabo, the Petrikor Danse Company develops interdisciplinary and collaborative works. Its ambition is to offer audiences total artistic experiences that leave room for reflection and dialogue.
The Ensemble Écoute, under the artistic direction of Fernando Palomeque, has as its primary mission the creation and dissemination of music by young composers through the organization of artist residencies, commissions of new works, and the hosting of a composition competition. The Ensemble distinguishes itself through multidisciplinary performances designed to invite audiences to discover contemporary music in a new light. Since July 2024, the Ensemble Écoute has been in residence at the Singer-Polignac Foundation.
This project is supported by SACEM, the Maison de la Musique Contemporaine, SPEDIDAM, FLAK-Compagnie José Navas, and the Singer-Polignac Foundation
