The Festival awarded the Grand Prix 2022 to an essentially singular – and now singularly essential – figure in the comics landscape: Quebec Julie Doucet. The retrospective devoted to her this year, Julie Doucet, Toujours de grande classe, probes the harshness of her subversive, even transgressive work, which has always been the sign of her unvarnished spontaneity.
